Day 1:
I received an ARC of Jasper Jones about a week ago and started really reading it today. I'm 4 chapters in and the plot is developing nicely. Charlie's character is not yet well defined and since the story is from his point-of-view it has been difficult to follow. Jasper was easier to imagine simply because he has been described as the high school's "bad influence" with whom I immediately associated the same from my own school days. Jasper has sought Charlie's assistance with a most disturbing secret...and now I'm hooked.
The dialect is difficult to adjust to, but I have a flexible imagination; some may have trouble with this, but I believe the story line makes amends for the discomfort.
