The Crossroads Blog Tour: Day 1

HOW THE TOUR WORKS:
Each day of The Crossroads Tour, a new question will be revealed on The Crossroad Blog Tour main page and each day the answer to that question will be found within one of the 16 different blog posts by Crossroads Tour authors. Your job is to get the question, read the blog posts, and collect all 16 answers by the end of the tour, on Halloween.
Go HERE to get today's question and links.

I was lucky enough to get to open with Jeri Smith-Ready as my Featured Author (how friggin cool is that!). Which means I will be giving away one signed copy of Shade to a randomly selected commenter.

If you haven't read Shade yet, you're in for a treat. I finally broke down and bought it a few weeks ago and could not put it down. I think I gave my eyeballs whiplash panning the pages so fast.

Best. Birthday. Ever. At least, it was supposed to be. With Logan's band playing a critical gig and Aura's plans for an intimate after-party, Aura knows it will be the most memorable night of her boyfriend's life. She never thought it would be his last.
Logan's sudden death leaves Aura devastated. He's gone.
Well, sort of.
Like everyone born after the Shift, Aura can see and hear ghosts. This mysterious ability has always been annoying, and Aura had wanted nothing more than to figure out why the Shift happened so she can undo it. But not with Logan's violet-hued spirit still hanging around. Because dead Logan is almost as real as ever. Almost.
It doesn't help that Aura's new friend Zachary is so understanding--and so very alive. His support means more to Aura than she cares to admit.

Jeri was kind enough to answer a few questions for me...

Book-Savvy: Did your target audience influence your writing at all?
Jeri Smith-Ready: "It did, but only because it let me write SHADE the way I wanted to write it. Whenever I worried that it was too emotional or too dramatic or too "smart", I would remember that my readers were jusst like me and very much wanted emotional, dramatic, smart books. I think the story and my audience and me were a really good match!"
I so much agree! You found a perfect balance in SHADE, and thank you for not "dumbing it down".

Book-Savvy: Describe yourself in 5 words.
Jeri Smith-Ready: "Independant, creative, disorganized, hungry, and ticklish"
You forgot to mention Made-of-Awesome, and Brilliant!

Book-Savvy: If you were stranded on a desert island which of your characters would you choose to be stuck with?
Jeri Smith-Ready: "Oh, easy! Zachary. Not only is he cute, he's also very smart and has a lot of practical knowledge. I bet in no time at all, he'd build a shelter, find a steady supply of food, and probably have cable TV set up so he can watch professional soccer."
Even if he didn't get the cable TV going, I'd be more than content listening to him tell me stories with that swoon-worthy accent of his... *now I'm daydreaming of getting stranded with a fictional character*
