The Crossroads Blog Tour: Day 6 ft: Amy Brecount White

Day 6 of The Crossroads Blog Tour is here featuring Forget Her Nots by Amy Brecount White
(who is quite possibly one of the sweetest women in existance)

When someone leaves three mystery flowers outside her dorm door, Laurel thinks that maybe the Avondale School isn't so awful after all — until her own body starts to freak out. In the middle of her English presentation on the Victorian Language of Flowers, strange words pop into her head, and her body seems to tingle and hum. Impulsively, Laurel gives the love bouquet she made to demonstrate the language to her spinster English teacher. When that teacher unexpectedly and immediately finds romance, Laurel suspects that something — something magical — is up. With her new friend, Kate, she sets out to discover the origins and breadth of her powers by experimenting on herself and others. But she can’t seem to find any living experts in the field of flower powers to guide her. And her bouquets don't always do her bidding, especially when it comes to her own crush, Justin. Rumors about Laurel and her flowers fly across campus, and she's soon besieged by requests from girls — both friends and enemies — who want their lives magically transformed — just in time for prom.

Amy was kind enough to answer a few questions for me:

Book-Savvy: What is the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?

Amy Brecount White: "Any one of my three children smiling. Truly, it makes me so happy."
That is exactly what I would have answered! ABout my children, not yours. Although I'm sure their smiles would make me happy, too.

Book-Savvy: What inspired you to write Forget Her Not's?

Amy Brecount White: "I went to hear the Nobel-winning author, Toni Morrison, speak. She said, "Write the novel that ONLY you can write." It made me search deep for what was unique about me, what I loved and uniquely had to share with the world. I'd also been researching the language of flowers for an article I wanted to write and had made a tussie-mussie (symbolic Vicorian bouquet) for a friend who was very ill. Somehow it all came together, and I started thinking, "What if the flower messages really came true?""
I think it's fascinating! It reminds me of things I would daydream about as a child.

Book-Savvy: If you were stranded on a desert island which one of your characters would you choose to be stuck with?

Amy Brecount White: "Laurel's cousin Rose! She's smart and snarky and would keep me thoroughly entertained."

Amy Brecount White: "White bellflowers for gratitude and orange crocuses for mirth, Heather!"

Book-Savvy: "Dwarf Sunflower for admiration and Acacia for friendship, Amy!"

Amy was kind enough to give me some signed swag to give away! Comment to enter. Please leave an e-mail address for me to contact you!
