The Crossroads Grand Finale with Karen Kincy

Meet Me at the Crossroads Day 16 ft

Seventeen-year-old Gwen hides a dangerous secret: she’s Other. Half-pooka, to be exact, thanks to the father she never met. Most Americans don’t exactly roll out the welcome mat for Others, especially not the small-town folks of Klikamuks, Washington. As if this isn’t bad enough, Gwen’s on the brink of revealing her true identity to her long-time boyfriend, Zack, but she’s scared he’ll lump her with the likes of bloodthirsty vampires and feral werewolves.

When a pack of werewolves chooses the national forest behind Gwen’s home as their new territory, the tensions in Klikamuks escalate-into murder. It soon becomes clear a serial killer is methodically slaying Others. The police turn a blind eye, leaving Gwen to find the killer before the killer finds her. As she hunts for clues, she uncovers more Others living nearby than she ever expected. Like Tavian, a sexy Japanese fox-spirit who rivals Zack and challenges her to embrace her Otherness. Gwen must struggle with her own conflicted identity, learn who she can trust, and-most importantly-stay alive.

Karen was nice enough to Answer a few questions for us...

Book-Savvy: What books have influenced you personally the most?

Karen Kincy: "When I was a kid, I was absolutely obsessed with the Animorphs books by K.A. Applegate. Got so bad that I sat down with all my books in a pile and tried to figure out where the characters "really" lived so I could hunt them down - and steal their morphing powers. probably. Make sense that I'm obsessed with Shapeshifters now? Annette Curtis Klause's Blood and Chocolate also seduced me with its sexy, vivid descriptions and werewolf girl heroine. Also, the worldbuilding of Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy blows my mind."

Book-Savvy: Who would you choose to play you in a movie based on your life?

Karen Kincy: "Uma Thurman! Becasue she's badass. More badass than me, so I'd have to start killing people with my pinkie and then maybe the movie would work."

Book-Savvy: If you were stranded on a desert island which of your characters would you choose to be stuck with?

Karen Kincy: "Not Gwen, actually. I have a feeling we're a little too similar, and would get on each other's nerves. Probably Tavian, because he seems like the most entertaining option. Plus he could turn into a fox and fetch me coconuts. Mwahaha!"

Thanks, Karen! You are totally Rock and Roll!
